Becky Pickering

Speech-Language Pathologist

Becky Pickering, M.S., CCC-SLP is an ASHA certified Speech-Language Pathologist with 10 years of clinical experience. She joined our team in July 2020 from her previous position at the University of Louisiana at Monroe (also her alma mater), where she was an Instructor and Clinical Supervisor in the Speech-Language Pathology Program.  Becky is particularly passionate about and has an extensive background in the areas of literacy, early language intervention, and accent modification.

In her teaching and supervising roles, Becky spent nearly 7 years co-directing ULM’s Literacy Clinic for elementary through high school-aged students who struggled with reading and writing.  Her early intervention skillset has been refined over the years first through her experience with birth to three populations through Louisiana’s Early Steps program, and continued through her years of work at ULM supervising and mentoring graduate clinicians to provide top-notch services to many young clients and their families.  She was also recognized in her department at ULM as the expert on Accent Modification and served clients from a wide variety of linguistic backgrounds over the years who desired a more General American English accent.

Becky highly values her roles as a wife, puppy parent of 2 (almost-human) dogs, sister, and “Aunt Becky” to her nieces and nephew.  In her leisure time, Becky may be found investing in time with family and friends, as well as exploring her new home state of North Carolina.  She also enjoys keeping up with her former students and watching them excel in their careers!
