Dawn Cates

Speech-Language Pathologist

Dawn Cates, M.A., CCC-SLP is an ASHA-certified Speech-Language Pathologist with 16 years of experience in school, hospital, nursing home, and private practice settings. She earned her degree from South Carolina State University in 2010 and brings a compassionate, family-centered approach to the children and families she serves.

Dawn especially enjoys working with young children ages 1 to 5, while also welcoming the opportunity to support clients of all ages. Her clinical strengths include articulation, language development, autism spectrum disorder, and a variety of developmental and learning needs.

Dawn’s therapy style is warm, supportive, and encouraging. She creates a space where children feel comfortable being themselves while building communication skills in meaningful ways. She believes every child deserves the opportunity to have a voice, whether through spoken language, sign, pictures, a communication device, or another form of expression.

Dawn partners closely with families and other professionals to support each child’s success. Parents can expect a compassionate therapist who listens, communicates openly, and is committed to helping their child grow.

Originally from Spartanburg, South Carolina, Dawn enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends, especially her husband, Reginal. She also loves time with her daughter, grandson, and French Bulldog, Onyx.
